Harry Smith

On November 11, 1999, Last Forever was featured in Hal Willner's Harry Smith Project, presented by Arts at St. Ann's in Brooklyn. Together with Art Baron on trombone, Kevin Kuhn on guitar, and Leroy Clouden on drums, Sonya and I performed Louis Collins/Spike Driver Blues and Down the Road, both from the Anthology. It was a pretty wild evening, with all the unusual suspects, including Nick Cave, Van Dyke Parks, Lou Reed, Sonic Youth, Syd Straw, David Johansen, Peter Stampfel, and Roswell Rudd. A highlight was Geoff Muldaur's version of K.C. Moan, with John Sebastian on harmonica, and back up singing by the McGarrigles, Robin Holcomb, and Jenny Muldaur – it was like a folk P-Funk. Also, not to put too fine a point upon it, Mary Margaret O'Hara sang the shit out of Better Things For You.
